Back Pain
Statistics show that 80% of all adults will experience low back pain at some point in time in their lives.  Most back pain is short lived but over 40% of patients with low back pain will have complaints of pain for one and two years later.  OA’s Pain Center staff can help reduce or eliminate the back pain and help you get back to your normal daily activities.  Our specialized physicians will diagnosis and prescribe the best treatment for the problem.  Some of the treatments include epidural injections, facet joint injections, sacroiliac joint injections, trigger point injections, discography, and radiofrequency ablation.  These are all types of minimally invasive procedures that may eliminate the need for major spine surgery.

Neck Pain
Neck pain can come from many different causes, including arthritis, work related injuries, auto accidents, or just bad posture.  OA Pain Center staff will work with each patient to determine the type of pain they have and choose an appropriate treatment for their injury.  Treatments may include medications, cervical epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, or physical therapy.

Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis.  This type of arthritis can cause knee, hip, and other joint pain that many times is the result of repetitive motions.  It is important to accurately diagnose the source of the pain to determine the appropriate treatment which may include medications, physical therapy, and peripheral joint injections.  Surgical consultation is provided when necessary.

Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a disease of the bones that is characterized by a loss of bone density leaving bones at an increased risk of breaking or fracturing.  Osteoporosis can be prevented with lifestyle changes such as exercise and a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, as well as exercise and alcohol and smoking.  OA Pain Center staff can help evaluate osteoporosis and prescribe appropriate treatment.  Painful fractures that do not respond to bracing or medication may be treated with kyphoplasty.  Kyphoplasty is a procedure that uses orthopaedic cement to stabilize the fracture, relieve pain, and restore some vertebral height.

Myofascial Pain
Myofascial pain is a chronic form of muscle pain that centers around sensitive points in your muscles called trigger points.  The trigger points can be painful when touched and the pain can spread throughout the affected areas.  This painful condition can be treated with medications, physical therapy, exercise, and trigger point injections.

Sciatica
Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve from your back down to your buttock and leg.  The radiating pain of sciatica also known as “pinched nerve” signals a problem involving the nerve such as a herniated disk.  OA Pain Center staff will thoroughly evaluate the patient and determine which particular nerve is causing the pain and treat appropriately.  Treatment options may include medications, physical therapy and nerve root blocks.

Peripheral neuropathy
Peripheral neuropathy often causes numbness and pain in your hands and feet which is the result of nerve damage.  This nerve disorder is often described by patients as a tingling or burning sensation.  Treatment options include prescribed medications or spinal cord stimulation.

Failed Back Surgery Syndrome
Failed Back Surgery Syndrome is a term that is used to describe a patient that continues to have pain following multiple surgeries.  The term “failed back” does not mean that the surgery was done incorrectly.  It is important to properly determine where the pain is originating from which may include further degeneration of the spine or stress that is now produced in different areas of the spine.  OA Pain Center will help determine the source of the pain and help find relief for the patient.  Treatment options may include medications or diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures.
